Supermai Hydropower Limited was established on 27^th Ashoj 2071 with the objective of developing hydropower projects and contributing to Nepal’s growing energy needs. The company is supported by a team of experienced professionals and successful business leaders from various fields, including hydropower development, management, finance, engineering, education, and public affairs. The company is committed to good corporate governance, transparency, accountability, and professional management.

The company’s first and pilot project, the Supermai Hydropower Project 7.8 MW, is located in Ilam District and utilizes the water of Mai Khola. The project has a catchment area of approximately 163 km² and a design discharge of 7.35 m³/s (Q40). The project includes an approximately 3,500-meter-long tunnel up to the bifurcation and is equipped with two Francis turbine units. The electricity generated from the project is connected to the national grid through an approximately 12 km, 132 kV transmission line from the powerhouse to Godak Substation.

The Supermai Hydropower Project achieved its Commercial Operation Date (COD) on 11^th  Kartik 2075 and was completed 21 months ahead of its scheduled completion period. This achievement reflects the strong commitment and teamwork of the company, its management, employees, contractors, consultants, lenders, investors, and other stakeholders. In recognition of the early completion of the project, the company received special recognition from the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation.
